Tuan Le

Artist and visionary

I create new dream concepts.

From a young juggler in Vietnam to Berlin, France and Cirque du Soleil. Now I imagine what the stage has never seen.

Follow the journey

Artist first. Visionary now.

I started as an artist, a juggler. Over the years my work grew into imagining new dream concepts and bringing them to life.

I mix circus, dance, acrobatic sport and puppetry with the culture and landscape of a place, in a language anyone can feel. The feeling matters more than the exact words.

A co-producer once told me my show felt like someone took his hand and touched his heart, softly. That is still the direction I follow.

Every stop taught me a new way to tell stories.

It began in Vietnam

I started as a young juggler in Vietnam.

Europe made it international

I moved to Europe and built an international juggling career. In 2009 my first show opened in France.

Chamäleon Berlin opened a door

Working at the Chamäleon variety theater in Berlin, I discovered circus skills can be tools to express, to write and to tell new stories.

Bamboo Circus gave Vietnam its own circus ID

Circus in Vietnam had mostly followed Russian and Chinese models. With the Bamboo Circus we gave it a Vietnamese identity people now recognize.

Selected work, from Cirque du Soleil to Vietnam's own circus.

Toruk: The First Flight

Cirque du Soleil, 2015. Choreography with Tan Loc Nguyen for the touring show inspired by James Cameron's Avatar.

Cheer on stage

I brought cheerleading groups into a show. Now it is a new trend at events across Vietnam.

New concepts give audiences a reason to come.

Uniqueness is the goal

Audiences have more options than ever. A concept that does not exist yet draws them in and adds something new to the world.

Small teams move fast

A small team can take a risk and build something completely new, quickly. That is where I love to work, with investors and collaborators who want the same.

Ideas I am exploring

  • Water puppetry and puppets in physical dialogue with performers
  • Acrobatic sport inside new show creations
  • A theater whose backstage opens onto the landscape
  • A new dining and entertainment show
